Since high school, teachers have taught us the importance of the
pre- steps before writing down our thoughts in a piece of paper. However, we
tend to write the ideas directly on to our first draft. I seriously ask myself
why we are likely to follow the wrong process if we have learned the proper one.
When at home I read again “I am a writer” I realized that my production
did not have coherence, so I took down notes about the ideas I would like to
include or modify, and I thought about the narrative style and the audience to
choose the appropriate register. Then, I made a web with the main topic in the
centre and I added the sub-ideas around it. Finally, I wrote it again.
When the second draft was
finished I revised it, checking repetition of words, coherence, cohesion and
spelling. At the end I recopied correctly and carefully. I realized that if I
have done it at the very beginning it would have been an easier task to solve.
